For July 22, 2021, our used car find is this 1994 Acura Legend GS sedan with 82k miles and a rare 6-speed manual transmission. It’s offered on Craigslist by a private seller in the Boulder Colorado area for $14,900 or best offer.

Here’s what makes this one special.

Introduction

In the race to launch Japanese premium brands, Honda was first with its Acura division. Their flagship model, the Legend, debuted in 1985 (as a 1986 model) to much acclaim, including three consecutive years on Car and Driver’s 10Best List.

The second generation Legend followed five years later (as a 1991 model), improving on the original in almost every way, including more power as well as more interior room and amenities. Its handsome “fuselage” styling — inspired in part by the division’s halo car, the NSX — still looks sharp today.

The Listing

This low-mile example comes from the model’s penultimate year (1994). In top-end GS trim, it benefits from a high performance variant of the Legend’s V6 engine, making 230 horsepower, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It also borrows suspension and brake upgrades from the sportier Legend coupe.

In the words of the seller…

Highly sought after GS model with Type II engine and 6 speed manual. One family owned since new. Purchased new at Flatirons Acura in Boulder. 81,500 original miles. Fully loaded. New tires and brakes. Runs great. A similar GS just sold for $32k on Bring a trailer website.

There’s not much to nitpick with this one. The only evident wear appears on the driver’s seat, which shows some light creasing and fading on the bolster and cushion.

The $14,900 asking price may seem a bit aggressive for a nearly 30-year-old Acura. But these cars — especially in manual GS trim — have a strong following, as evidenced by a recent $32,000 sale of a similar example on auction site Bring a Trailer.

Nevertheless, we’d recommend getting a thorough pre-purchase inspection (PPI) by an Acura specialist before plunking down that much cash, just to make sure that its condition throughout is consistent with the price.
