For August 8, 2021, our used car find is this four-door 1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe LT 4WD with 118k miles. It’s offered on Craigslist by a private seller in the Sacramento area for $7500 or best offer.

Here’s what makes this one special.

Introduction

Chevrolet launched its first compact SUV, the S-10 Blazer, for the 1983 model year. Based on the S-10 pickup, which debuted a year earlier, the Blazer was the first compact SUV to hit the market, beating competitors like the Ford Bronco II and the Jeep Cherokee XJ by about a year.

The rugged, body-on-frame Blazer was fairly rudimentary at first, but Chevy kept making updates through its rather long 11-year production run. By the final model year (1994), the Blazer offered amenities like leather seats, an electronic transfer case, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and even cupholders. GM also made desirable upgrades to its torquey 4.3-liter “Vortec” V6 engine, including adding balance shafts and fuel injection. By 1994, it was making 165 horsepower.

The Listing

This particular specimen benefits from all those improvements. It also sports the upscale Tahoe LT trim, identifiable by the unique faded look on the lower third of the exterior, which works quite well here against the original Bahama Blue factory paint. Four-door models like this one also offer quite a bit more interior room than two-doors, thanks to a wheelbase that’s been stretched by 6.5 inches. And we love how the designers preserved the two-door look by hiding the C-pillar behind the rear-door glass and trim.

With 118k miles on the clock and approaching 30 years in age, this Blazer has seen some action. But it still presents like a barely-used example. The paint gleams, the trim hasn’t faded, and the interior shows very little wear. Even the retro-cool digital dash appears to be working as-new. It’s clear this Blazer has been loved.
