2000 Lexus LX 470 with 56k Miles
For August 13, 2020, our used car find is this 2000 Lexus LX 470 with just 56k miles, which is listed on craigslist in the Sacramento area for $15,000.
Here’s what makes this one special.
The LX is Lexus’ version of the venerable Toyota Land Cruiser, an SUV icon dating back to the 1950s and which has long been considered one of the best offroaders of all time.
The example offered here is based on the 100 Series Land Cruiser, which was first sold in 1998 and introduced a number of significant upgrades over earlier versions, including much-needed V8 power. That comes from Toyota’s 2UZ-FE engine, producing 230 hp and a healthy 320 ft-lbs of torque.
Somewhat controversially, Toyota also added an independent front suspension for the first time. While not quite as rugged as earlier solid axle designs, it does offer a far more comfortable ride and more car-like handling.
Indeed, in its review at the time, MotorTrend wrote, “The LX 470 not only behaves more like a car, but inside it feels more like a luxury sedan than a truck. Were it not for the long climb to the seat, you might believe you were piloting a Lexus sedan.”
These qualities, plus Toyota’s legendary build quality, which was arguably at its peak at this time, make the 100 Series LX a highly desirable used car buy.
And this is exactly the kind of example that most are looking for, with unusually low miles and still looking almost new inside and out.
The seller notes that the SUV has been with the family since new and, other than a recent timing belt change, hasn’t had any major needs other than routine maintenance.
The asking price here of $15,000 is quite reasonable for such a nice example of the LX. We expect one of the many LX fans out there to snap this one up.
